Liturgical ministries are vital in helping the parish community worship more fully and actively. At St. James, these ministries assist in the preparation, celebration, and reverence of the Mass, as well as caring for those who cannot attend.
For example, altar servers assist the priest during the Mass and sacraments, and St. James provides training sessions for both new and returning servers.
Music ministry helps lead the people in sung prayer. St. James has multiple choirs (adult, children, Hispanic, evening contemporary) and encourages parishioners to lend their voices or instrument skills.
Sacristans at St. James prepare the sanctuary for Mass, care for the linens, vestments, and sacred vessels, and assist behind the scenes in coordinating the liturgical details.
Ushers/Greeters provide a welcoming presence, help seat parishioners, assist those needing special accommodation, and direct the flow at the offertory and communion.
These ministries not only support the smooth running of worship but also give parishioners a tangible way to live their faith through service. For more information, or to join a ministry please call the parish office!
